The Vancouver Canucks’ season will be defined after tonight’s game, and either way, history will be made at the final buzzer. The Canucks are either going to join the list of illustrious playoff bed-shitters who have lost 4 in a row if they lose, or if they win they will once and for all get the Blackhawks monkey off their back. I, of course am leaning towards the latter, especially if they play like they did in game 6.
There’s nothing left to say at this point about the series, it’s win or go home time for both teams. Nothing else matters right now except to win. If the Canucks lose, the offseason will be spent talking about games 4 and 5 and how the Canucks tanked the series on those two games. There will be even more talk about how the Sedins all but disappeared in the playoffs. Then there will be the goaltending situation, and how Luongo handled the playoff stress. Yes, there will be lots to talk about if the Canucks lose, so lets not worry about it until/if it happens. The Canucks just need to win tonight, and almost all will be forgotten.
Luongo gets the start, and this game alone will define his season, if not his character. Luongo needs to step up and play the way he did in games 1 & 2. This is no negotiable, and there should be no excuses for why he can’t. This is the game that a ton of goaltenders dream about, and he’s got his chance to be the difference. All eyes will be on Lou tonight as it’s his game to win or lose!
The Sedins, Samuelsson, Burrows and Kesler will undoubtedly be feeling the heavy stares of the hometown crowd tonight as it’s their offensive power that will be relied upon to put the pucks in the net. A game winning goal by anyone of the Canucks is the dream of any kid who idolizes these guys, so don’t let them down!
We can piss and moan all we want about the questionable officiating, and borderline hits to the head in game 6, but it really doesn’t matter anymore. Nothing matters other than winning this game. This series has been a roller-coaster ride to hell and back as the team teeters on elimination after being up 3 games to 0 over the Hawks. This series definitely wasn’t supposed to go 7 games, but it has, and now it’s time to take a dump of get off the pot. This series will end tonight, and the Canucks have the talent to end it in a positive way! So let’s do this boys!
Let’s Go Canucks! Win this one especially for Manny!
